The course gives aspiring young Namibian writers the opportunity to develop and enhance their Afrikaans writing skills.
Professor Hans du Plessis from the Northwest University (NWU) lead the Bank Windhoek Writing Development course. The course is also considered a chancellor's course at the NWU and the names of the participating learners are added to the Language Department for any future reference if someone publishes a book.
ATKV's Chairperson, Leonie van Rensburg, thanked Bank Windhoek for its loyal support as the main sponsor over the years. The support of Bank Windhoek made it possible for eight schools across Namibia to take part in the Development Course. These courses took place in Windhoek, Gobabis, Otjiwarongo and Swakopmund, to ensure that all learners had an equal opportunity to take part in the Bank Windhoek Writing Development course.
"It is an honour and privilege to work with Bank Windhoek", said van Rensburg. The spokesperson of Bank Windhoek, André le Roux replied to van Rensburg's words by saying: "It is a privilege for Bank Windhoek to support the writing course to ensure that young aspiring talent keeps growing and developing their skills in order to become top quality writers". Le Roux stated that it is the hope of Bank Windhoek that the learners will apply their new found knowledge to make a positive impact and difference in their studies.
