Bank Windhoek Appoints Erlank as Chief Treasurer

On Monday, 6 July 2026, Bank Windhoek announced the appointment of seasoned financial markets executive Ian Erlank as Chief Treasurer, effective 1 July 2026. With more than 20 years of experience across treasury, markets, investments and executive leadership, Erlank brings deep technical expertise and strategic insight to one of the Bank’s most critical functions.

As Bank Windhoek’s new Chief Treasurer, Erlank will lead the Bank’s treasury function, with responsibility for liquidity, funding, capital markets activities and foreign exchange. His appointment strengthens Bank Windhoek’s ability to navigate evolving market conditions while supporting long-term financial stability, market responsiveness and sustainable value creation for clients, shareholders and the broader economy.

Bank Windhoek Managing Director James Chapman said Erlank’s appointment reflects the Bank’s commitment to strong leadership in a specialised and strategically important area of the business. “Treasury plays a central role in safeguarding the Bank’s financial strength and supporting our ability to serve clients with confidence. Ian Erlank brings exceptional market knowledge, proven leadership and a strong understanding of the Namibian financial landscape.

We are pleased to welcome him back to Bank Windhoek and are confident that his contribution will further strengthen our resilience, competitiveness and long-term growth,” said Chapman.

Erlank holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Futures Studies from the University of Stellenbosch Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics from the University of Pretoria. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), holds a Certificate in FinTech from Harvard, and an ACI Dealing Certificate, a globally recognised, foundation-level qualification awarded by the ACI Financial Markets Association.

He has built a strong career across foreign exchange, cross-border payments, structuring, investment management and financial markets leadership. Erlank began his career at Bank Windhoek as a Dealer in Specialised Investments before joining Capricorn Asset Management, where he held senior executive roles, including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive for Investment Management.

Most recently, he served as Head of Global Markets at Rand Merchant Bank Namibia, where he led key business units and supported foreign currency transactions, cross-border payments, financial risk management solutions and major strategic initiatives.

Chapman concluded that Erlank’s appointment would support Bank Windhoek’s continued focus on financial discipline, prudent market leadership and sustainable growth.
