Bank Windhoek invests N$960,000 in Volleyball and Aquatic Sports

On Friday, 27 March 2026, Bank Windhoek reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to sports development in Namibia with a sponsorship of N$560,000 to the Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) and N$400,000 to the Namibia Aquatic Sports Federation (NASFED). The sponsorship underscores the Bank’s belief in sport as a powerful catalyst for youth empowerment, social inclusion and national pride, particularly when investment is directed at development pathways from grassroots to elite level.

Bank Windhoek’s partnership with the Namibia Volleyball Federation spans more than a decade, making it one of the Bank’s longest-standing sports development relationships. Over the years, this sustained support has contributed to the expansion of grassroots programmes, league structures and the strengthening of Namibia’s national volleyball pipeline.

NVF Vice President Liina Mattheus said the continued partnership remains critical to the sport’s future. She commended the Bank for the support, and that Bank Windhoek’s funding enables the Federation to invest in youth, strengthen grassroots structures, and build a sustainable future for volleyball in the country.

Through its sponsorship of NASFED, Bank Windhoek continues to support swimming development initiatives that promote competitive excellence while expanding access to swimming as a vital life skill across Namibia. NASFED President Riaan Steyn welcomed the sponsorship, highlighting its developmental impact. He said that the backing allows the swimming fraternity to host swimming competitions, giving athletes the opportunity and platform to improve their times and qualify for national and international championships.

Bank Windhoek’s Executive Officer of Marketing and Corporate Communication Services, Jacquiline Pack, said the sponsorship reflects the Bank’s philosophy of investing where it delivers long-term social impact. “We are passionate about sport development in Namibia and as a home-grown bank, we believe that this partnership not only uplifts Namibians but activity impact positive change.”

She concluded that Bank Windhoek remains committed to partnering with national sports federations to ensure that sport continues to serve as a platform for opportunity, inclusion, and national representation.
