Bank Windhoek’s Executive Officer of Retail Banking Services and Specialist Finance, James Chapman, said that by embracing corporate social responsibility, Bank Windhoek establishes a mutually beneficial relationship with communities, paving the way for a prosperous and sustainable future.
Chapman delivered this statement referring to the recent announcement that the Capricorn Foundation has pledged one million Namibian Dollars to the Bank Windhoek Young Talent Programme via the Capricorn Academy for School Leavers initiative, which addresses youth unemployment and accessibility to on-the-job training of young Namibians.
In its experimental phase, the Capricorn Academy for School Leavers will offer ten Grade 12 Class of 2023 graduates the opportunity to join Bank Windhoek for an 18-month comprehensive training programme. The qualifying candidates must have obtained 25 points in Grade 12 and have had the following commercial subjects: Mathematics, Accounting, Business Economics, Economics, Business Studies, or Entrepreneurship.
“The successful participants will receive training across various banking disciplines but will primarily be based at selected Bank Windhoek branches, namely Aranos, Karasburg, Oranjemund, Lüderitz, Opuwo, Oshifo, Katima Mulilo, Mariental, and Ondangwa,” said Chapman.
In response to the demand from the public that the Bank should consider increasing the number of intakes, Chapman said that the Bank is aware of this concern and will consider extending the initiative after the assessment of the pilot phase is completed.
“The School Leavers Programme offers selected candidates a unique chance to develop professionally and personally while preparing them for successful careers in the dynamic banking field, and we are thankful to the Capricorn Foundation for its generous support,” said Chapman. “This initiative is one of many social responsibility initiatives that Bank Windhoek does within Namibian communities. When giving back, we can better the lives of our community because if they prosper, we all prosper.”
Chapman concluded by wishing all the potential successful candidates the best. Qualifying candidates are encouraged to apply at their nearest Bank Windhoek Branch or download the application form from the Bank Windhoek website, www.bankwindhoek.com.na. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, 15 May 2024.
